Pray With Nate Brewster...

“Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened.”

~ Matthew 27:50-51a

Imagine living in a time where the Holy Spirit was not present in the Hearts of God’s people.  Imagine a time when the earthly presence of God was confined to a room, deep in the temple, blocked by a thick veil that’s sole purpose was to separate the general populace from God.  Imagine standing outside the Holy of Holies waiting to see if the priest, that had been chosen to make the yearly sacrifice, had lived a life clean enough to walk into the presence of God and come out alive.

I don’t know about you, but I am so grateful that that is no longer the case. In Matthew 27:50-51, we once again see the physical…impact the spiritual. In this verse we are reminded of Jesus’ death. As gruesome and as terrible as it was, Jesus gave His life for our sin; the very sin that separated us from God. That veil was an incredible depiction of what happened on the cross that day. Just as our sin that separated us from God was removed, so was the veil that separated us from the Holy of Holies.

What does this mean for us today? This means that we can approach the Holy of Holies boldly and confidently. We can speak directly to a Living God that sent His only son to a sinful earth to die for the very people who were going to crucify Him.  Why? So they would no longer live separated from His presence, but in direct communication with Him. (Read 2 Samuel 14:14)

We at MPC are asking you to take time today to pray with us. Take advantage of the free opportunity you have to communicate with the very God that created you! Let’s approach His throne boldly and confidently as we intercede for our church and for each other!
