“If the first loaf is holy, all the bread is holy. If the root is holy, all the branches are holy.” Romans 11:16 (NLV)
Here’s some first we need to practice:
First Breath (Praying with God)
When you wake up in the morning, before your feet hit the floor, pray this prayer (or any one of your choosing): This is the day that You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24).
First Thought (Reflecting on God)
Before you get the newspaper, turn on the TV, check Facebook, your phone, your email, or give any thought to any other venture, spend at least five minutes reading God’s Word.
First Dime (Giving to God)
Whether you get a paycheck, social security, retirement, disability, or any other source of income, before you put money anywhere else, set aside the first portion to give to God at your next opportunity.
First Words (Encouragement from God)
Make the first words you speak to those you encounter be encouraging. Not superficial compliments, but words of blessing.
First Sacrifice (Communion with God)
Begin every day taking communion. Spend time reflecting on Christ’s sacrifice and let it impact the way you go about your day.
